Hmmm, I was listening to a pastor on television a few hours ago and I thought to myself, “I’m kinda [sick and tired] of hearing, I need to send a certain dollar amount because someone I never met on television has heard a word from the Lord, on my behalf.” Seriously, if that’s the understanding of the Word the televangelist wants me to believe then why isn’t God giving them all the same message for me! Sounds a little more like hocus pocus than words of the Holy Spirit. Much like a “chain letter” if you do this – then that will happen, and if you don’t something else on the negative side of the scale will occur. So my question is if Jesus came that I might have life and more abundantly – John 10:10 King James Version how will my “sowing of a seed” line up with this scripture?
What does God desire of us? David said “…truth…” in Psalms 51:6 . Yet Luke told us that having a good heart and hearing the Word would bring forth fruit and patience, Luke 8:15, if that’s true then why am I directed to sow a seed of $500 and if I don’t have the $500 I can send whatever I have towards it – exactly what the Pastor on television spoke this evening. If this is the way it works if I sow a million dollars – will I get ALL of my needs and desires met? If that’s true then poor people will never get what they need, want or desire, or will they just get a “lil” bit.
Are they implying that for $35.99 I can buy 2 weeks worth of salvation and for an extra $1000 I can be delivered from 3 sins, when will the money train stop? Paul wrote, “…do not be deceived God is not mocked, Galatians 6:7 whatever I sow, I will reap – If I’m sowing a seed for a new house – is that Greed, a seed for my health – have I not prayed, seed for my children’s health – have I lost faith, seed for a new job – am I looking for employment in my calling, if I sow that seed have I lost touch with the phrase – “from who all blessing flow”? Iin other words am I sowing from Envy or Covetousness – I want a house the size of Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Greed sowing a seed for an increase in finances (has the not Lord provided for me)? Lust, come on ladies sow that seed to get that other woman’s husband. Gluttony, I’m going to sow a seed every time someone asks for a four firgure seed. Again, according to David, (Note: Are you aware that David did not write all the Psalms?) if I delight myself in the Lord according to Psalm 37:4, He will give me the desires of my heart. With that said I must make sure I have a clean heart – hmm but I can’t do that either according to the Psalmist, God must create in me a clean heart. Psalm:51:10.
Sounds more and more to me that I must either believe that He died for my sins, have faith that God is on my side when it looks like life has thrown me a curve, trust that the Lord will provide all my needs, ask Him to clean my heart and renew a right spirit within me, and about 365 times the Word tells me, “I must fear not”.

The controversial photo of the 16 Black Female West Point Cadets. What is the controversy – did they break any DOD regulations; where they too Black for West Point; are they supporters of #BlackLivesMatter; is West Point supporting #BlackLivesMatter?
For those of you who do not know – Black Lives Matter (BLM) is an activist movement, that campaigns against violence toward black people. BLM regularly organizes protests around the deaths of black people in killings by law enforcement officers, and broader issues of racial profiling, police brutality, and racial inequality in the United States criminal justice system.
Why does this matter you ask? For a variety of reasons:
- The number of peopled killed by police reportedly was 1,145 of that number 4% were white or Asian;
- The disproportion number of black men serving time for crimes also committed by other races;
- The many disparities across forums such as health care, child care, education from Pre-K to High School;
What is the purpose of the Military – To defend our country from potential threats, hurt, harm or danger.
What is taught at West Point – “The United States Military Academy’s mission is to educate, train and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of Duty, Honor, Country and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the nation as an officer in the United States Army.
The Academy provides a superb four-year education, which focuses on the leader development of cadets in the academic, military, and physical domains, all underwritten by adherence to a code of honor.”
West Point’s Comparative Politics Program (excerpt) – The West Point Comparative Politics Program provides cadets with the intellectual tools and knowledge of core theories and concepts to better understand why some states fail and others remain stable. Cadets have the opportunity to view critical comparative politics issues in a multi-perspective manner by taking related courses both in and out of the department. After mastering the core concepts, cadets can tailor their program towards a regional (e.g., Africa, Middle East, etc.) or functional (e.g., negotiation, democratization, post-conflict stabilization, etc.) focus. The comparative politics courses and related electives provide cadets with the knowledge and framework to apply the core concepts and theories to relevant case studies and issues.
On the American side of Social Science –Students also consider processes such as political leadership, voting and group behavior. Strong emphasis is placed on the unique, and what some might consider exceptional ‘soldier-state’ civil-military relationship in the American experience.
In this writer’s opinion the aforementioned students were provided an outstanding education (not to mention the prerequisites for entry) which has prepared them to understand the political arena and socioeconomic development or lack of as a Cadet, as a Woman, Black Woman and now as a member of an organization designed to create and foster character.
Surely if they exhibited any other traits and/or behaviors that did not align with the mission, vision and values of West Point they would not have achieved the title of “Cadet”.
“To educate, train, and inspire the Corps of Cadets so that each graduate is a commissioned leader of character committed to the values of Duty, Honor, Country and prepared for a career of professional excellence and service to the Nation as an officer in the United States Army.”

The Best Chain Letter
You find yourself in a place on your journey where it appears everything is falling down all around you. Relationships are breaking apart, you lost your job, the dog died, your husband or wife is cheating, the children appear to have lost their mental capacities. The hallway of decisions your options appear dim or non-existent and seems like you just can’t get a breakthrough. Then you hear the notification sound of a new email, or the chime of Facebook Messenger with that “hopeful” message directed at you either by a friend or a group – they usually go a little like this:
- If you are not afraid to say you love Jesus, type Amen
- The picture of thousands of dollars labeled your finances will be over tomorrow, if you type Amen
- God will open a big door for whoever types Amen and Shares the post
- Please don’t scroll without typing Amen
- In the next 24 hours God will Bless you with Plenty of Money if you type Amen and forward to 10 people
Or the chain letter that reads –
“Do this and that will happen and if you don’t something else negative will happen.
Chain Letters, or Chain Mail, is a movement where a person sends a message to one person, while at the end of the message declaring that the reader must send the letter to however many participants to avoid a negative outcome or achieve a positive one. Upon receiving thousands of chain letters and having worked at increasing my relationship with God. Which also means understand the words in the Bible, the authors, and asking for guidance on the application and understanding of the message, I began to understand these “other messages” did not line up with scripture. I am 1000% sure that God’s blessings, mercy and grace are not based on how many times a chain letter, gif or meme is shared with instructions. Secondly 2 Peter 1:20 – 21 states: Knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone’s own interpretation. For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit. One’s faith should be in God’s not in the “send, paste comment or share if like and believe” button(s). Galatians 3:26 For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. Number 4 seek the Kingdom first, not a chain letter for all your blessings – Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
I saw a meme the other day it read, “Where in the bible does it say to type Amen?” I replied, “It does not – but I can show where it speaks to witchcraft, idolatry etc. Chain letters, and bullying memes ARE a form of witchcraft and sorcery. They can lead one to believe that if they type “Amen” a bank roll will appear in 3 days after they send it to 10 people. More importantly it takes the power away from God; He is the ultimate supplier of things we need, He said He will supply our needs. If need $325 to make my rent payment I need ONLY to trust Him, when or if I type “Amen” to the bank roll I am in essence saying a few things. (1) I have no faith; (2) I have not faith in God; (3) I don’t trust that God will supply all my needs; (4) I actually want more than I need; the list goes on.
“I, the LORD, am your God,
who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery.
You shall not have other gods besides me.
You shall not carve idols for yourselves in the shape of anything in the sky above
or on the earth below or in the waters beneath the earth;
you shall not bow down before them or worship them.
Let’s look at the definition of the word Amen. It is a word used in the Bible to express a solemn approval and agreement with a statement. It is often used at the end of prayers. It is used a total of 59 times: 28 in the Old Testament and 31 times in the New Testament. At first glance one might think, hmm well I agree with the statement in meme or the chain letter so why not type Amen? Because! the Lord said I brought you out of the land of (slavery, bad marriages, physical abuse, drug addiction, emotional abuse, mental abuse, sleeplessness, unemployment, homelessness, denial, the fire, loneliness, pain and suffering, demanding job requirements, overbearing mother, lying, stealing, worrying, anger and depression, settling for less, insatiableness, adultery, self-pain, self-hate, cancer, alcoholism, fornication, poverty ( whatever is or was your Egypt ), which means that He is the only one with the power remove the evil, and provide salvation and deliverance in your life. If you follow the instructions on the chain letter or the meme you are giving those words power over your life, if you are not giving it to God, then you’re giving to Satan!
In Matthew 6: 23 – 25 we read:
…23But if your vision is poor, your whole body will be full of darkness.
If then the light within you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other,
or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
25Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink;
or about your body, what you will wear.
Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? …
In Deuteronomy 18:9-14 we read:
“When you come into the land which the LORD your God gives you,
you shall not learn to follow the abominable practices of those nations.
There shall not be found among you any one who burns his son or his daughter as an offering,
anyone who practices divination, a soothsayer, or an augur, or a sorcerer, or a charmer,
or a medium, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
For whoever does these things is an abomination to the LORD;
and because of these abominable practices the LORD your God is driving them out before you.
Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
