Sally Yates – just shameful, when you disagree – you get fired, and you are the Assistant Attorney General. Sounds sadly like the You’re Fired TV show, this is not how the government is run or at least that’s not how it was run 11 days ago.

This was the definition of the Attorney General’s role – which will now include – …unless you disagree with the President of the United States, You’re Fired!

The mission of the Office of the Attorney General is to supervise and direct the administration and operation of the Department of Justice, including the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Drug Enforcement Administration, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Bureau of Prisons, Office of Justice Programs, and the U.S. Attorneys and U.S. Marshals Service, which are all within the Department of Justice.

The principal duties of the Attorney General are to:

Represent the United States in legal matters.

Supervise and direct the administration and operation of the offices, boards, divisions, and bureaus that comprise the Department.

Trump Isn’t the Problem

Trump isn’t the enemy or the problem, when we default to becoming emotionally moved by what he says or does, we’re in trouble. When we continue to post his comments and behavior we’re feeding the power that’s moving him.  We should ask ourselves what can we do individually and collectively to teach each other about our new found awareness of how government works here in America, learn from this. Feed your desire to learn and teach, look behind and pull some Black person along, help someone get up off the floor. Remove the clearly stated boundaries that define the echelons of your neighborhood. Be more do more share more and grow more. Again I say if we were truly Americans,  there would be no separate rules and amenities to help us along…

Why Rejection Hurts So Badly

Republicans in the North Carolina legislature on Wednesday took the highly unusual step of moving to strip power from the incoming Democratic governor after a bitter election that extended years of fierce ideological battles in the state.

North Carolina's New Govenor Roy Cooper

North Carolina’s New Governor Roy Cooper

After calling a surprise special session, Republican lawmakers who control the General Assembly introduced measures to end the governor’s control over election boards, to require State Senate approval of the new governor’s cabinet members and to strip his power to appoint University of North Carolina trustees.

Republicans also proposed to substantially cut the number of state employees who serve at the governor’s pleasure, giving Civil Service protections to hundreds of managers in state agencies who have executed the priorities of Gov. Pat McCrory, a Republican.

If the measures pass the legislature, where Republicans hold large majorities in both chambers, and Mr. McCrory signs off, they would significantly hamstring the new governor, Roy Cooper, who takes office in January. Mr. McCrory conceded the race last week after a nearly monthlong challenge of the vote, a hard-fought race that followed four years in which unified Republican control of state government brought a wave of restrictions on voting access, abortion and gay rights.

Democratic leaders accused Republicans of trying to undo the election results. “This is an unprecedented, shameful and cowardly power grab from the Republicans,’’ said Jamal Little, a spokesman for the state’s Democratic Party. “After losing the governor’s office, the G.O.P.-controlled General Assembly is attempting to hold on to power that voters took away from them.”

Now children your history books will change, lets review:

What or Who is the Governor?

Each of the 50 states in the United States has a governor, who is ultimately responsible for how the state is run. State constitutions delegate different duties and requirements for the role of governor, such as the number of terms a candidate may be elected for the office and the age requirement to run. The rules for the line of succession vary, as do the responsibilities of the role. There are some significant similarities, however.

In the United States, a lieutenant governor is a person who serves as the second in command to a governor and takes the governor’s place if he is unable to serve for some reason.

Oath of Office for Governor

The Governor, before entering upon the duties of his office, shall, before any Justice of the Supreme Court, take an oath or affirmation that he will support the Constitution and laws of the United States and of the State of North Carolina, and that he will faithfully perform the duties pertaining to the office of governor.

Why Does Rejection Hurt Us So Badly?

The honest truth is that rejection sucks. Rejection hurts now and will in the future.  Rejection comes from Latin, meaning thrown back. When we are rejected, we feel not only halted but pushed back in the opposite direction of which we were headed.  Okay, you have just received the swift blow of rejection knocking you off guard and what happens? First, you are stunned, disoriented from the blow. You feel weak and helpless. Your body begins to shut down, as you lay there paralyzed from the injury. As human beings, we are extremely sensitive to rejection, especially forms of social rejection. We have a strong motivation to seek approval and acceptance.  When we don’t win we could care less about the rules or others feelings.  So know you know the explanation for McCrory’s complete lack of characteristics behaviors known as integrity and morality after losing to Cooper.
